Description:
The following item depicts an engraving of John Wilkes (1725-1797), by an unknown creator at an unknown date. The image depicts him in a bust-length portrait. He is facing right, with a side profile. He has his hair pushed back, dark eyebrows, and a slight smile. He wears a white neck cravat, and two piece jacket with button detailing. The engraving mimics a pencil sketch stylization. Below his image, his name is printed, JOHN WILKES, ESQ. His features are given a youthful and refined look in this etching, compared with some of the satirical or caricatures in the collection. Information concerning the artist, engraver, or publisher is not available.
