Description:

The following item dated October 1772, depicts an engraving of John Wilkes, published for Lady’s Magazine. In the image, Wilkes is captured in a whole-body figure, posing in potential Parliamentary robes, an ornate chest chain, and black buckle shoes. He is directed left, where he points his left hand and looks out of frame. In other items with this engraving depicted for printing in Lady’s Magazine, an inscription is included beneath the image, stating elections in offices of Alderman, Sheriff, and Lord Mayor of London, from January 1769, July 1771, and October 1772.
