“This view of Wilkes by Hopwood is actually based on a 1779 John Zaffany oil painting of Wilkes. In the original painting, Wilkes is peering upwords at his daughter Polly with whom he spent his last years.
The chin has been softened and the teeth are not as bad as in the Hogarth views.”
