Description:
The following items depict two acknowledgments by John Wilkes, dated December 7 and June 20 of unspecified years. In the first document, December 7th, Wilkes writes his compliments to the recipient, Mr. Nichols says that he appreciates the opportunity to send his appreciation to the Prince’s Court and send a copy of Biographical Anecdotes of William Hogarth.
In the second acknowledgement, June 20, Wilkes sends his compliments to Mr. Thorp and asks for his future support at Guild Hall as Chamberlain, and thanks him for previous support.
The date for the year has been estimated by the life dates of John Wilkes.

Mr. Wilkes presents his compliments to Mr. Nichols, and desires to acknowledge the polite attention of sending to Prince’s Court “Biographical Anecdotes of William Hogarth”, a work, which has afforded him the most elegant entertainment, and gives so many proofs of the author’s correct taste and fair spirit of criticism.
