Description:
The following item depicts an engraving of Martin Van Buren, the 8th president of the United States. The engraving was created by Edward Wellmore after an original painting by Henry Inman, and printed by E. W. Rogers. Below the engraving, Van Buren has scrawled his signature. The picture depicts a bust-length profile of Van Buren. He has curly, dark hair and wears a dark overcoat with a white undershirt and frilly neck-collar. Van Buren holds a cane with his right hand.
The date of the printed engraving by Rogers has been estimated by the dates of his office as Vice President, which was in 1833-1837 for president Andrew Jackson.
