Description:

The following letter is dated February 19-March 5, 1825. It is written by Zachary Taylor, the 12th president of the United States, to Charles Josephus Nourse, an American military figure who served as the acting Adjutant General of the U.S. Army from 1822-1825. In the letter, Taylor is writing to Nourse to explain current and future military movements to be made. There are certain return reports for the previous month that are to be made to Nourse, two of which are by Captain Brady and Wagner. Taylor writes that he has not heard from Captain Wagner as of writing Nourse, but he expects the number of recruits to be near 100. Captain Brady has made requests of Taylor for a dozen ball castredess. There is another item between the two men digitized on The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History
