Description:
The following letter dated January 28, 1845, is written by James Buchanan, the 15th president of the United States, to Christopher Longstreet Ward. In the letter, Buchanan is responding to a previous letter requesting various books Ward is entitled to by way of connection to a late friend, Davis Dimock, junior. The patent for these books have gone out of print, but Buchanan mentions that those of Mr. Ellsworth will be coming soon when he obtains the two copies through a friend he was promised.

Washington, 28 January, 1845.
My dear Sir;
It gives me great pleasure, in reply
to your letter of the 22d inst[ant]., to enclose you a
list of the Books to which the representatives
of our late friend, the Hon[orable]. Davis Dimock, Jr.
by a resolution of the House of Representatives,
are entitled.
The Reports of Mr. Ellsworth of the
Patent office, are out of print, but he has
promised me to obtain two copies from a friend,
if possible. So soon as I receive them I shall send
them to you.
