Description:

The following letter, dated August 18, 1868, is written by Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th president of the United States, to Joseph Russell Jones, an American merchant and politician. He was also a close childhood friend of Grant. In the letter, Grant writes that Jones does not need to make any plans of the present time for his plans to travel east. He writes that he will be staying in Galena, his home residence, for several more weeks.
