Description:

The following item depicts a photograph of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, and George Dudley Seymour, an American lawyer, antiquarian, historian, and author. The photograph shows the two men facing one another, dressed in professional clothing and laughing. Roosevelt holds a top hate in his hand and both have glasses on. On the reverse of the item, there is a transcription that references Seymour’s collection of items related to Connecticut hero, Nathan Hale. This inscription states that Seymour adopted the man, purchasing his birthplace with various relics within. There is also a brief history of the night someone’s husband was ill and Hale was sent for, where the person’s life was saved. It is unclear who the author or point of view in the transcript is.
