Description:
The following items, dated October 31, 1816, November 14, 1816, and November 28, 1816, depict three legal contracts between various parties and the Wilkes Barre Bridge Company. The first contract is signed with Homan Morgan Samuel Sutton and Ezra Tuttle, and is indebted for the sum of $400.00, to be paid in what appears to be two payments, the first $200.00 with interest on the rest of the account. This contract is witnessed by Jonathan Hancock and Lewis Jones. The second contract is signed by Samuel Sutton, Charles Thomas and John P. Arndt, and is indebted for the sum of $400.00, to be paid in what appears to be two payments, the first $200.00 with interest on the rest of the account. This contract is witnessed by C.W. Brinkeley. The final contract is signed by Stephen Decker, Eleazar Carey and James Thompson, and is indebted for the sum of $200.00, to be paid in what appears to be two payments, the first $100.00 with interest on the rest of the account. This contract is witnessed by Daniel E. Brown and Merritt Slocum. There appears to have been edits made to this final contract, as there is an addendum of erasures occurring before the signing of Merritt Slocum, those witnessed by the same.
