Title:

Master Plan Report for Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Description:

The following item, dated May 1959, depicts an urban planning report made by Isadore Candeub and Associates Planning Consultants in 1959. This firm was headed by Isadore Candeub, well-known urban planner. This report breaks down the sections of Wilkes-Barre in 1959. The report’s three topics were Economic and Population Analysis, Existing Land Use Survey, and Neighborhood Analysis and Urban Renewal Program. They reported on the sections of Wilkes-Barre and the conditions of each one. They focused on conditions of housing and land usage. They concluded with their 20 year plan to revitalize the city. Their main plan for doing this was to establish new zoning sections throughout Wilkes-Barre. This report also contains four maps of Wilkes-Barre. These maps show land usage, section boundaries, housing conditions, and where they would focus on renewal.
