Description:

The letter is written on October 13, 1831, and is on behalf of French essayist and biographer, Louise de Broglie. The letter is accepting the request of a visit from Mr. D(?). She is a member of the prominent French family, House of Broglie, as the granddaughter of novelist Germaine de Staël. Lousie de Broglie wrote a number of works, including a two volume biography of Lord Byron which was published in 1872 and 1874. She authored an autobiography that was never published in her lifetime. In the top, left hand corner of the letter, the imprint of the paper company can be seen when held to the light: “N FILS 30.”
