Description:

The item contains a print created by English artist and author, Hablot Knight Browne, of an engraved scene from Nicholas Nickleby, commissioned in 1839. The scene depicted is from English author, Charles Dickens’ novel, which was serialized in origin from 1838-1839. The novel’s protagonist, Nicholas Nickleby, strives to support his mother upon the loss of his father. The serial publications were sometimes accompanied by illustrations, such as Browne’s depicted here.
