3 Old square May 20/[18]62 My dear sir Unluckily we have only power to take one stranger at a time to the Cosmopolitan. I shall be happy to take either you or Mr. Taylor tomorrow night. I sh[ould] suggest you writing a line to Forster (who is pretty sure to go) to take whichever of you does not go with me-I dine out, but will take care to be at the club (in Charles St. Berkeley Square, opposite the church) by 11. There is no reason why you & your friend shouldn’t go sooner, but you will find nobody much before 10:30- You have nothing to do sh[ould] you arrive before me & Forster but to give our names at the door & walk up - If there is any difficulty about Forster let me know & I will try to hit(?) on another member tomorrow morning, but the time is short. I shall of course be very glad to make Mr. Taylor's acquaintance in any case. Sh[ould] he not come to the Cos[mopolitan] Sunday evening is the first night I have disengaged. Will he come in in the evening at Park Street? Or he would find me here any day but Friday till 5 pm. I got the pamphlet, thanks - ever yours. Thomas Hughes
