Dear Mr. O’Donoghue
I am exceedingly obliged to you for your kind letter & for the trouble you have taken on my behalf. Please accept my best thanks.
The scholarship won was for Harmony +(?) Counterpoint, in 1891: perhaps I shall be able to get the date before the article goes to prin[t]. It is very likely that they aren’t in any great hurry.
I hope that some day I may have the pleasure of meeting you, & talking over our memories of Synge. I did not get to know him till 1903 and the years just before that were almost the most interesting in his life. You have given me many little glimpses of him during those years, & to that I am very thankful. Please come to see me if you are ever in town. that will be a great pleasure to me.
With many thanks.
Believe me
You’re my sincerely
John Masefield
