Description:
The letter is authored on October 4, 1896 by French writer of Occitan literature and lexicographer of the Provençal form of the language, Frederic Mistral, to unknown recipients named “Monsieur et Madame Janvier”. In the letter, he is inviting Mr. and Mrs. Janvier to lunch on October 6th. Later in the letter, he thanks the receiver for a translation priorly performed.
The summer of Saint Michael is possibly related to the festival, Michaelmas, which is celebrated on September 29. The letter is dated a few days after this celebration.
