Subseries V: Drawings/Sketches, late 19th century, is a short collection of various sketches from 19th century artists. Organized by alphabetical order of artist, this collection… There are drawings from the following people: Peter Newell, Thomas Nast, and Herman Strecker. This subseries specifically highlights different themes and usages for art within the 19th century. The drawings reveal political motives, racial stereotyping, scientific observation, and general sketching for practice. Each of the four items in this subseries reveals the different purposes through which these artists created their works.
