Description:

A bookplate with the phrase, “Thou Finder Kind Have this in mind, for unto thee its known, within thy heart, whoe’er thou art, each man would have his own” which was based off a poem written by James Smith of the Vale of Aylesbury found on a bookplate from 1698 within a book titled, “A Collection of Many Select and Christian Epistles” by George Fox. There’s a ring of flowers and a bough of plants around the text. The bookplate belongs to Charles Dexter Allen, who was a bookplate collector born in 1865 and lived in Windsor Locks Connecticut until he died in 1926. He’s also been listed as a notable writer and editor for Marquis Who’s Who. He was a writer and artist and was interested in artists' prints, books, and drawings. He’s written many books including “The Bookplates of William Fowler Hopson.”
