Title:

Library of the University of Pennsylvania

Description:

A blank bookplate of the Library of the University of Pennsylvania. It features the Keystone with the Earth on it. After some research, it was discovered that this bookplate was “deposited by Robert H. Lamborn” and is part of the Department of Archaeology at the University of Pennsylvania. Robert H. Lamborn was born in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and has a Doctorate in metallurgy. He became the Secretary of the American Iron and Steel Association back when steel rails were becoming used more than iron rails. He was a big part of making the first railroad that linked the Mississippi River and Lake Superior. Lamborn gave to Museums in Philadelphia, New York, the Netherlands, and Washington D.C. According to companions of Lamborn, he liked Philadelphia’s Archeology Department the most. “He showed his appreciation for the provost of the University of Pennsylvania.”
