Title:

Ex Libris Universitatis Californiensis Sather Law Library

Description:

A bookplate for the Sather Law Library. The image, with text surrounding it, features a pile of books facing a lake with some trees. Peder Sather, who the law library is named after, was born September 25, 1810 in Disena, Norway. He’s mainly remembered for his work at the University of California. His wife gave money to the school for two of its most important landmarks in dedication to him. Those two being Sather Gate, and Sather Tower (a.k.a The Campanile), both of which are in the National Register of Historic Places. “Peter Sather was a trustee of the College of California, which would later become the University of California, Berkeley.”
