Ex Libris Louis Lion
Description:
A bookplate of Louis Lion featuring a lion below the Star of David. Louis Lion is laying below a pillar. There is text on the top of the pillar that reads “Dieu Nous Garde” which translates to “God Keep Us.” Louis Theodor Lion was a famous millionaire and “journeyman” from Paris. He had a castle in Grelsy, was married, and had “a whole entourage of domestics.” After he was detained by authorities in Paris, he claimed he was being persecuted and other people from the first French society had let go of the mistake by the police. Lion was supposed to be let out of jail, but his castle was raided and suspicious possessions were discovered. His address was found in “the diary of the suicide of Sing-Sing.” It was obvious that Lion was leading a drug company. There was a nice car that was pulled over in the middle of the night in Paris, and it just happened to be Lion’s. After he went to the police, they made him stay overnight. He was living a triple life, from being a drug dealer, canary, and a restaurant owner. Lion also owned a lab where an explosion happened a few years back.
