Description:
This letter is written by John Sullivan (1740-1795) and Caleb Emary (1736-1793) in regards to a case where the Defendant, Simon Emery, is requested to make a sufficient plea for his damages and costs. John Sullivan is most known for being a General in the Revolutionary war and winning severe key battles. At the time that this letter was created Sullivan was serving as New Hampshire’s attorney general.

and the Plan.f[Plaintiff] agreeing as aforesaid says the Deff. [Defendant’s] plea to Issue is bad & no Legal answer to the Plan.f[Plaintiff’s] Demand wherefore for want of a sufficient Plea in that behalf the said Simon Emery says prays Judgment for his Damages & Cost
