Description:

This letter seems to be about provisions being sent. The manuscript mentions a Mrs. Gore, this is possibly Hannah Parks Gore, as there was a prominent military officer and judge by the name Obadiah Gore in the Wyoming Valley during the eighteenth century.

Transcription:

The Commissary is Directed to issue to Mrs Gore and her three children also to Mrs Smith & her seven children such Quantity of Provisions as Colo[nel] Butler shall Direct – & Sh Colo Butler is Directed to Employ Chose wo[illegible] [women?] in such work as may Conduce most to the good of the publick [sic] service and the advantage of the Garrison at the place which the army is on the Expedition given at Head Quarters in Wyoming July 5th 1779.
