Poor. The paper is extremely thin to the point where you can very easily see straight through it, and is in turn extremely easy to damage. Outside of that, the paper contains several tears, rather large folds, ink fading, as well as other signs of age.

Description:
This letter by United States Secretary of Navy Benjamin Stoddert was written to forward orders from the Board of War to Zebulon Butler, requesting that some regiments from Wyoming are moved to support Sunbury. It specifically requests men under Captains Schott and Spaulding to report there.

In Council. Philadelphia 19th October 1779.
Resolved, that the petition of the Inhabitants of Northumberland County representing this great apprehensions from the Indians and the letters from Genl Hand; be transmitted to the board of war and that they be requested, to order one hundred & fifty men from Wyoming to Sunbury, there to be stationed in such manner, as the sentiment of the County, and the commanding officer of the said Troops shall deem most likely to afford the greatest security and protection to the said county.

In consequence of the request contained in the above resolution of Council, and the board being of opinion that Schotts Corps & Spaldings Company with the detachments of proctors will be fully competent to the defence [sic] of the Garrison at Wyoming you are hereby directed immediately to order the German Regiment to Sunberry the Commanding officer of which with the advice & assistance of Col Hunter, Lieutenant of the County, will station his men in such manner & places, as he may deem most proper for the preservation of the Inhabitants, & security of the Troops.
Should the Reg. be prepared to march before the cloathing (sic) now on the way, arrives - a sufficient guard had better be left to escort it down the River the March of the Regiment must not be delayed if able to proceed without it.
