Description:

The manuscript dated July 30, 1784, is written by John Franklin to an unknown recipient. In the manuscript, Franklin is requesting that the recipient deliver a gallon of rum by the notes barer and charge it to Franklin’s account. Franklin includes a note at the bottom of the page, stating that he desires the rum because he has a couple of gentlemen from Sunbury visiting him. The order is witnessed by a Mr. Hagerman.

Transcription:

July 30th 1784 Sir, please to deliver the Barer one gallon of Rum and change your hum[bl]e serv[an]t John Franklin Mr. Hageman present Sir the reason for wanting the rum is I have some gentleman from Sunbury.
