Description:
Timothy Pickering and Matthias Hollenback were great friends and business patterns, in this letter Pickering is asking Hollenback about an affair regarding land sales in Sugar Creek. In a previous letter Hollenback informs Pickeirng of John B. Selley’s interest in purchasing land on Sugar Creek where he lives. Pickering writes to Hollenback asking if Seely wants a whole tract of land or only enough for a farm. He also discusses money in Hollenbacks possession, which was supposed to be paid to John Ross. Pickering states he would like the money either given to Ross or returned to him as soon as possible.

Dr. Sir,
I duly rec.d [sic] [received] your letter of Sept.r [september] 5th and am obliged by your information relative to the taxes on new lands - and of Capt. Seely who wants to purchase land on Sugar Creek, where he lives. Can you tell whether he wants to purchase the whole tract (which contains 1100 acres surveyed on the 1000 acre warrant) or only enough for a farm where he lives. -From your knowledge of the tract what should you think it would bring per acre, supporting the title clear?
You mention that you had money of mine in your hands, not paid over to Mr. Ross. I want money so much, I shall be obliged by your paying it to him, or remitting it to me, as soon as you can, the sooner the better. Or if you should be coming to the city between this and New Years day, you may bring it with you. A longer delay would be inconvenient to me.
I am sir yr. [your] friend & h’ble servt. [Humble Servant]
Timothy Pickering
