Description:

In the letter dated October 8, 1800, Matthias Hollenback, a Luzerne County judge and patriot of the American Revolutionary War, is writing to Jasper Parish for the repayment of a debt. In the beginning of his letter, Hollenback makes reference to some notes that Parish was holding of Hollenback’s at Niagra, and asks that he send information concerning them. Hollenback then goes on to ask about a Mr. Tubbs, stating that he holds a judgment against the man and asks Parish to see about Tubbs' circumstances. He concludes by saying that he will take an execution out on Tubb’s if he does not receive his money. Hollenback signs his letter by asking after Parish’s wife. The item number includes two newspaper clippings to contain biographical snippets about Hollenback.
