Description:

This is a check from Charles Carroll to Charles B[aker] Hitchcock from November 11, 1826. The check is written out for Hitchcock in the amount of one hundred dollars. Charles Carroll sat on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. Carroll was an Irish-American planter, politician, signatory of the Declaration of Independence, and a U.S. Senator. Hitchcock was born in 1819 and was an American politician. He was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1864.
