Description:

This is a letter to Hendrick Wright from Winfield Hancock on June 3, 1876. The letter is about rescheduling to come visit a friend in Philadelphia. The creator of this letter, Winfield Hancock, was born in Pennsylvania in 1824. Hancock was a United States Army officer and he participated in both the American Civil War and the Mexican-American War. The recipient of this letter, H[endrick] B[radley] Wright, was born in Pennsylvania in 1808. Wright would go on to study law and serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Later in his life he voiced his opinion on labor concerns and in 1871 Wright wrote a book on it.
