Description:

This is a letter from John Houston to Joseph Hedges on April 11, 1846. During this letter Houston says it's his pleasure to go through with Hedges requests and that he deserves something for it. The creator of this letter, John Houston, was born in Delaware in 1814. He served as a Justice of Delaware Superior Court and was a U.S. Representative from Delaware. Houston attended the Peace Conference of 1861, which was held in Washington, D.C., in an effort to devise means to prevent the impending Civil War. Joseph Hedges was a bookkeeper and autograph collector based in Philadelphia, PA. It is likely that Hedges was requesting a signature from Houston for his collection, which Houston complied with.
