Description:
This is a letter from William Dean Howells to Thomas Allibone Janvier on February 3, 1892. During this letter Howells is letting Janvier know that his book is the correct length and that he is ready to see it after publication. The creator of this letter, William Howells, was born in Ohio in 1837. He was a realist novelist, playwright, literary critic, and was nicknamed “The Dean of American Letters” while also being known for his tenure as editor of a magazine. In 1904 Howells was one of the first seven people who were chosen for membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The recipient of this letter, Thomas Janvier, was born in Philadelphia and was a story writer and historian. Janvier spent time in New York, New Mexico, Mexico, and Colorado where he would find much of his inspiration for his writings.
