Description:

This is a letter from William Learned Marcy to Hendrick Bradley Wright on December 3, 1856. The letter informs that Marcy received Wright’s letter and that he is forwarding Mr. Brown’s letter to him. The creator of this letter, William Marcy, was born in Massachusetts in 1789. Marcy was a U.S. senator, U.S. Secretary of State, U.S. Secretary of War, and was the governor of New York. The recipient of this letter, H[endrick] B[radley] Wright, was born in Pennsylvania in 1808. Wright would go on to study law and serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Within the letter, Marcy notes that Wright’s letter has been forwarded to William Brown, another representative in the House of Representatives (representing Virginia).
