This is a typed letter from John McLean to the postmaster general on November 6, 1823. Enclosed in this letter are Horton's & Ely’s bond(s) and contract(s) that must be signed and returned to the treasury. The creator of this letter, John McLean, was born in New Jersey in 1785. McLean served as Postmaster General and was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Coincidentally, he served in all three branches of the federal government.
