Description:
This is a check from Condy Raguet and Henry Garnet on August 22, 1828. A check for twenty-eight dollars that seems to be between relatives. The creator of this check, Condy Raguet, was born in Pennsylvania in 1784. Raguet studied at the University of Pennsylvania, after graduating he studied law. He would later become a member of the House of Representatives and the senate. At the time of this check, the recipient, Henry Raguet, served as a director of the Bank of the United States. Condy Raguet had recently left his post in Brazil as minister (in April of 1827). It is unknown what Raguet was doing at the time or why he wrote a check to Henry.
