Description:

This is a letter from John Sedgwick to Jefferson Davis and Andrew Humphreys on July 16. The letter seems to be about following an order regarding movement of troops. The creator of this letter, John Sedgwick, was born in Connecticut in 1813. Sedgwick was the Union Army general during the Civil War. This movement of troops is likely following both the Battle of Savage’s Station and Glendale, where Sedgwick was wounded. Sedgwick is writing to Confederacy President Jefferson Davis and Chief of Staff Andrew Humphreys about his movements, likely responding to correspondence instructing him what to do.
