Description:
This is a letter from Samuel Tilden to an unknown “My dear sir” on October 14, 1853. Tilden is talking about continuing to rent out a home and possibly selling a tract of land owned by an unknown Lloyd. Tilden concludes the letter stating that the recipient should discuss with him before getting a survey of the tract. The creator of this letter, Samuel Tilden, was born in New York in 1814. Tilden attended Yale University and New York University Law School to study law. He became the twenty-fifth governor of New York.

My Dear Sir,
Yours of the 12th is this moment recd.
You can receive the rent of the Drumheller place.
You may also continue this lease for the coming year on such terms as you deem fair replacement.
If you receive any communication in in[sic] nexted to the Lloyd tract, or the title to it which I have not consented to take, you had better confer with me on the subject before survey.
