Description:
This is a letter from William Tilghman to Daniel Roodney which was sent on an unknown date. This letter is in response to another and it seems to be about talking to a military officer. The creator of this letter, William Tilghman, was born in Maryland in 1756. Following Tilghman’s graduation from the University of Pennsylvania he became a delegate to the Maryland House of Delegates and was a part of Maryland’s Senate. The recipient of this letter, Daniel Rodney, was born in Delaware in 1764. Rodney was a merchant and a politician who ended up serving as a Representative and Senator from Delaware. At one point he was also the governor of Delaware.

I am extremely obliged to you for your attention; I need a letter, which I shall be obliged to Capt[ain] Steel if he will send to Mr. Chase in 3rd Street, between Walnut & Spruce Streets.
