Description:
This is a letter from Charles Dudley Warner to Mr. Dana on June 18, 1892. This letter seems to be addressing some sort of meeting that will take place to discuss stories, possibly ones written by him. The creator of this letter, Charles Warner, was born in Massachusetts in 1829. Warner was a novelist/essayist who co-authored a novel with Mark Twain. Warner liked to travel a lot and he eventually became the president of the American Social Science Association. Warner sent this letter from the University Club in Madison Square, New York. Warner was known to work in the library at this club, hence him being able to access stationary from the organization.
The name for the referent, Mr. Dana, has been plausibly attributed to charles Ellsworth Dana due to a comparison with a Charles E. Dana in another manuscript within the collection, item 11.86, Letter from Booker T. Washington to Charles E. Dana, 1904 January 6.
