Description:

This is a letter from Daniel Webster to someone unknown on July 5, 1851. This letter introduces its bearer who is a gentleman from Maryland. The creator of this letter, Daniel Webster, was born in New Hampshire in 1782. Webster was a member of the House of Representatives, had a seat in the Senate, was Secretary of State and chair of the Senate Finance Committee.

July 5 51 My Dear Sir The Bearer of this is Mr. Eldridge, a respectable Gentleman of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He has business at your Department which he will explain Dryer, in a very few words. Yours Truly D Webster (Sec’y [Secretary] of State under presidency of Mr. Fillmore 1830-’52 to N. K.
