Description:

It is an excerpt from a document cut for John Caldwell Calhoun’s signature. Calhoun was born in 1782 and was an American statesman and political theorist. Calhoun attended Yale College and Litchfield Law School which helped him secure positions in both chambers of Congress and vice president from 1825-1832.
