Description:
Autograph of James Hall. Hall was born in Pennsylvania in 1793. He was a writer, state treasurer of Illinois, banker in Ohio, magazine/newspaper editor, lawyer/circuit judge, and veteran of the War of 1812. Hall wrote a travel book, Letters from the West (1828); one novel, The Harpe’s Head (1833); a readable survey of western exploration, The Romance of Western History (1857); and several volumes of short stories.
