Description:

A ticket to an art and literature exhibition with the signature of Thomas Allibone Janvier. Janvier was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1849 of Provencal descent. He was a historian and story-writer. He published Ivory Black Stories which tell of his life as an artist as well as many other stories in Harper’s Magazine. He spent much of his life traveling with his wife Catherine Ann Drinker who was the first female teacher at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts through parts of the U.S., Mexico, and France, gaining information for his literary work.
