Description:

An autograph by Thaddeus Keeler, Quartermaster. This seems to originally be a letter. Thaddeus Keeler appears to have had a detailed military career. Keeler was born on April 2, 1752 in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Keeler served as a sergeant under Captain Joseph Hait‘s Company, 7th Connecticut Continental Regiment. From July 13—December 23, 1775, Keeler served under Colonel Charles Webb at the siege of Boston. Again, Keeler served in the rank of sergeant under Captain Gamaliel Northrop, Jr.‘s Company, with the lst Battalion at Wadsworth‘s Brigade. From June 24—December 25, 1776, Keeler served under Colonel Gold S. Silliman. Then, on January 1, 1777, under Captain Samuel Hait‘s Company for the 5th Regiment Connecticut Line, Keeler served as 2d Lieutenant, with Colonel Philip B. Bradley. On May 25, 1778, Keeler was promoted lst Lieutenant Quartermaster. Keeler died on March 13, 1803.
