An autograph of William Homer Leavitt who was an American portrait painter. He was born on April 23, 1868 in Scituate Massachusetts. He became a sought after portraitist, painting many well-known historical figures such as General Joseph Wheeler, William Jennings Bryan, Thomas Jefferson, and others. He married 18 year old Ruth Bryan, the daughter of Presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan, however, their marriage was short-lived. When Leavitt traveled to Paris without her, she filed for divorce which led to one of the most discussed child custody battles of the early 20th century.
