Description:

An autograph from George McClellan. McClellan was born in Pennsylvania in 1826. He was a businessman, politician, engineer, and writer. He would become general-in-chief of all Union armies, fighting in many battles during the Civil War including the Battle of Antietam. McClellan became the governor of New Jersey in 1877. After retiring, he spent his last few years writing McClellan's Own Story in which he defends his wartime behavior.
