Title:

The Holy Bible

Description:

The following item depicts a Tiny Library edition of the Holy Bible for children. This item was gifted to Jean Hamilton McClintock, daughter of Andrew Todd McClintock, by her maternal aunt, Emily Lindsley Cist Wright on December 25, 1865. This book contains passages from the Old and New Testament, giving brief synopsis of biblical stories including the origins of Adam and Eve, Moses and the story of Jesus Christ. The Bible was published by Moore & Nims as a Tiny Library series, dating back to the 1850s. It was a series of miniature books published based on a library’s most popular titles. It was thought that the program would help patrons find new titles to enjoy by way of their miniature collection. The covers for Moore & Nims collection often have a saturated color, such as blue or red, with gold inlay and type. There are a few models that have pictures printed on the front.
