Title:
Expense Account for Boyd’s Campaign to Wyoming and back to Philadelphia
Description:
The following items, dated originally October 15, 1784, depict photocopied accounts of John Boyd’s campaign to Wyoming and back to Philadelphia. The funds were read and approved through the Comptroller's office, October 15, 1784. The photocopies were created by an unknown creator at an unknown time. In the accounts, we see that Boyd lists a number of debts recorded for cash given to different ranking officers on their travels. The first account comes to a total of £62, 18 shilling, and 3 pence. There is an addendum to the balance with dues paid by David Rittenhouse on July 30, 1784, which total to £50 even. This brings the new total of the account to £12, 18 shilling and 3 pence. The second account displays the same charges of commissions given to various officers. This second account comes to a total of £100 even, and the same was paid by David Rittenhouse on September 10th. Boyd writes a testimony that the dues were paid by Rittenhouse in full at the bottom of the page.
