They have been thoroughly researched by using primary and secondary sources available digitally, and named in each description, or in some cases linked directly to the person tag.

Description:
This item, along with Item 24a, are a letter sent from an unknown third party to someone living at No. 1 Flowers’ Building, in Holloway, London regarding Duckett, Thaddeus William, 1776-1851, a newspaper editor and writer, and the Duke of Wellington Wellesley, Arthur, 1769-1852, possibly on July 24, 1847. The bottom and side flaps seem to be missing. The top flap has an annotation written by presumably a previous archivist, explaining that the note and address of the envelope are in a certain section of the archives, with his seal. The letter has no seal or autographs and neither does Item 24a, so it can be assumed that a piece is missing from the envelope. At the top of the envelope, “Piccadilly” was stamped in blue ink, likely representing the post office through which it was sent or delivered. The address suggests that this letter was intended for someone living at No. 1 Flower’s Building, Holloway, London, which may have been relabeled to 134-138 Holloway Rd in 1866, according to the Islington Heritage Service. The building is currently a retail/housing property.
**Holloway was part of London’s postal code according to the Islington Heritage Service prior to being incorporated in 1889, which is presumably why the envelope includes London as a location. More information about Holloway’s history can be found here.
