Description:
The following document displays the heraldry of Chevalier Anne-César de la Luzerne, date unknown. The document contains the description of a “blue [background] with an affixed cross of gold filled with five shells of gules.” Luzerne became the French minister to the United States in 1779 and returned to France in 1784. He was a staunch supporter of the American Revolution and greatly influenced the development of the new government in Philadelphia.
