Description:
The following item dated 1825, depicts a photostat by unknown of a map of Pittston and Covington. The map includes 8000 acres of land on Spring Brook and is divided in three described parts to Matthias Hollenback, David Hosack, and Samuel Fisher. Hollenback’s division is ⅓ of the tracts, including 16 individual warrants with 266 ⅔ cares total. Hosack’s division includes ⅔ of the remaining ⅔, totaling 22 warrants and possessing 89 ⅓ acres in total. Samuel Fisher is granted the remainder of the lands, with 14 tracts and 44 acres in total. The item goes on to list the twenty two tracts of land under Hosack’s portion. The 22 lots are granted to individual persons, with their name ascribed to the corresponding number. The map also notes several creeks, including Spring Brook, Sarah’s creek, Hosack’s creek, and Cist’s creek.
